Transparent Factory Dresden
Transparent Factory in Dresden inaugurated
The Volkswagen AG´s "Transparent Factory" in Dresden counts on high-tech behind glass - here, customers will be able to catch a glimpse of the "Phaeton" assembly and observe precision craftsmanship right from the start. A selected part of the automotive assembly plant will serve as a permanent marketing event - behind approximately 11,000 square meters of insulating and safety glass.
In view of the functional and architectural demands, exceptionally high-quality glazing was needed. The glass had to provide protection from heat in the summer and thermal insulation in the winter. While it had to be neutral in color it still had to meet increased demands on security. Compared to conventional solar control glass with a low transmittance and a tinted view, the solar control glass ipasol used here in Dresden offers a generally undisturbed view as well as excellent climatic protection.

In spite of a low solar energy transmission to prevent overheating in the summer, the light transmittance is relatively high. With a Ug-value of 1.1 W/m²K (according EN 673) the glass also offers excellent thermal insulation. The outside panes as well as panes in areas with increased safety demands also comprise laminated safety glass.
