ipacontrol E

Electrochromic solar control

Using the electrochromic glass ipacontrol E, the amount of light and heat entering the rooms can be controlled individually. Colouration of the glass allows it to be adjusted as required to the external conditions, which vary in the course of the day and the year. At times of high solar irradiation, a touch of a button is enough to cause the glass to assume a blue colour. In this way, comfortable lighting conditions and temperatures are achieved.

The "variable" solar control glass consists of a "sandwich pane", which makes use of the electrochromic effect. A low voltage level of 3 Volts at most activates an ion exchange process. Due to the nano-textured coating, the glass assumes a blue colour and reduces the sunlight transmittance of the laminated glazing. The process of shifting transmittance from the lowest to the highest level of colouration takes about twelve minutes for a pane with the dimensions 100 x 100 cm. This happens silently and slowly – and thus does not attract the attention of the room's users.  Light transmittance varies between 15 and 50 percent in combination with iplus. The g-value varies between 12 and 38 percent according to EN 410.

Electrochromic glass not only raises the level of well-being and living comfort, but saves money as well. In addition, there are no maintenance costs for external solar control systems.
